Spent the day with Louis Vuitton

Ok, so it wasn't with THE Louis Vuitton but I did spend the day at the Louis Vuitton Foundation. So this . . .

And not this . . .

The LVF opened this museum in 2014 so it is very new by Paris standards! It is located in the Bois du Boulogne which most tourists don't get to so you can check that out at the same time. There is a shuttle every 15 minutes for one euro that runs from this unknown landmark to the LVF.

The building in itself is worth the trip. It was designed by the infamous, Frank Gehry, known for many famous tourist attractions including the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Spain. And he's Canadian!

You can even see the Eiffel Tower!

The art exhibitions change and there are 11 different galleries in the place. The art at the moment ranged from modern/abstract to more recognized works like Munch's The Scream and Matisse's The Dance. There was also some Kandinsky, Picasso and Monet - I don't think any Paris museum is complete without a couple of water lilies! Of course you're not allowed to take pictures of those works and I find modern art slightly perplexing but here's one I did get :

The museum is also really trying to take advantage of the digital economy - if you download their app (there is free wifi) you can use it to navigate the place with all the commentary. If you don't have a device they have ipod touches on hand. The app is a bit clunky but once you get the hang of it, there is some good commentary on the building and the artwork. I also recommend buying your ticket online to jump the line or else you will spend half your time just waiting to buy tickets!
