Munich Residence

While I was there I also checked out the Munich Residence. The "Residenz" is the former royal palace of Monarchs in Bavaria. It is the largest city palace in Germany with a 130 rooms.

The Hall of Antiquities (Antiquarium), built between 1568-1571.

Much like most palaces and residences there were several rooms decorated in the traditional style of those that resided there over the years.

The hallways were also worth a few pictures . . .

The Baroque ancestral gallery . . .

A couple of other random things that caught my eye. . .

The Cuvilliés Theatre was built by the Elector of Bavaria Maximilian III Joseph (reg. 1745-77) outside the palace after a fire in the St.George's Hall of the Residence which had served previously as a theatre room. It was built from 1751 to 1753 by François de Cuvilliés in rococo style.
