Koprivshtitsa
is one of the most characteristic Bulgarian towns, still preserving the
atmosphere of the Bulgarian National Revival period of the 19th century. It
lies on the Topolnitsa River among the Sredna Gora mountains.
Kableshkov House
Kableshkov House belonged to Todor Kableshkov a 19th-century Bulgarian
revolutionary and one of the leaders of the April Uprising. He was the first to
proclaim the April Uprising on 20 April 1876 and is the author of the famous
Bloody Letter to the Panagyurishte revolutionary district. After the uprising
was suppressed by the Ottoman authorities, Kableshkov fled and was eventually
captured near Troyan, imprisoned and tortured. Todor Kableshkov eventually
committed suicide in the Gabrovo police office at the age of 25.
Lyutov House
Lyutov House was built in 1854 for the wealthy citizen of Korprivshtiza
Stefan Topalov by Plovdiv master-builders. It has richly painted walls and beautiful
wood-curved ceilings. In 1906 the house was sold to the local merchant Petko
Lyutov from where its name derives.
